Roofing slates are generally supplied to high-specification restoration, repair or new-build projects such as public, commercial and residential buildings. For these projects products are generally specified by architects or building contractors and supplied through a network of specialist distributors. However, increasingly more private individuals are choosing to design and build their own properties and have become a much larger proportion.
The architectural product range is particularly varied but again includes public, commercial and restoration applications. Selected and specified by architects and designers products are sold to the contractor responsible for building/installing the project or directly to the consumer, the contractor’s client. Private householders may choose to select their own materials personally or through a contactor of their choice.
Decorative aggregates are used in private residential and public landscaping schemes and are sold to a range of outlets, typically builders merchants and DIY stores.
The industrial minerals division supplies specialist granules and powders for industries as diverse as automotive, paint and roofing felt, to name just a few. Products are generally sold directly to the manufacturers. Construction aggregates are sold directly to ready-mixed concrete and precast concrete products contractors in the road, housing and utility sectors.
