Welsh Slate aggregates are produced as a by product of roofing slate production from both current and historic workings at each of its four quarries in North Wales.
- Construction: Precast and ready-mixed concrete, road building, civil engineering and house building are the main sectors served.
- Industrial minerals: Slate granules, for example, are used to produce bituminous roofing felts and artificial slate roofing tiles. Ground slate has many outstanding technical properties and slate powders find their way into a wide variety of products including bitumen, insecticides, paint, resins, pipeline coatings, roofing and
damp-course felts, motor car under seal, terrazzo tiles and plastics. - Decorative: Produced in three colours – Plum, Blue and Green – which are used in landscaping applications as mulches for footpaths and patios for example. Slate feature stones and monoliths are also available.
